Mission of North East Neighborhoods Development Corporation

 

Improving economic conditions and the quality of

life for residents and business in the NENDC neighborhoods of Saint Paul.

 

 

North East Neighborhoods Development Corporation (NENDC) is a nonprofit neighborhood-based community development corporation.  NENDC’s purpose stated in its articles of incorporation and bylaws is as follows:

 

· To promote and advance the general welfare of the service area by improving economic conditions for all residents and businesses in the area, especially those with low or fixed incomes.

 

· To ensure that all residents of the service area have access to decent, safe, and sanitary housing at rents or purchase prices they can afford; to create increased opportunities for homeownership; and to provide incentives for longer duration of residency.

 

· To ensure development, expansion, retention, stabilization and support of jobs and businesses in the service area including increased opportunities for neighborhood residents to hold higher paying jobs and to own and manage businesses.

 

· To reverse deterioration and improve the physical appearance of the service area; to revitalize and foster pride in the area; and to eliminate and/or prevent blight in housing, commercial/industrial properties and in open spaces.

 

· To implement neighborhood plans which have been approved by the district councils for their respective portions of the service area; to enable the neighborhoods in the service area to have increased influence.

 

NENDC was incorporated in 1992 by residents of its service area for the above purposes under Minnesota nonprofit corporation statutes. The corporation has received tax exempt status under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
